What's New and My Other Blogs/Posts

So at my doctor's appointment last week, which was a dermatologist surgeon or something to that effect, I found out I have a spot of Basal Cell Carcinoma above my left eyebrow. Ah, the joys of being a redhead.

Or rather, the joys of being an OLD redhead. BCC is caused by sun damage. My fair-er skin has taken all the damage it can over the years, and now skin cancer is what I have to look forward to. For the rest of my life. What few years I have left of a life anyway.
I saw on my medical chart that I'm 45 years old. 45. I honestly don't think I knew I was that old. 40-ish doesn't seem nearly as old as 45. That's practically 50. Shit.

Anyway, they'll be doing something called Mohs surgery, whereby they'll remove a layer of skin at time, test it right there, and continue removing layers of skin until they reach a layer with no cancer.
After which I'll have a hole in my head, and since I don't need another hole in my head, they'll be doing reconstructive surgery to close it up by cutting into the skin down in my Temple and pulling it up and stitching it.
I think I'm going to end up with an "L" shaped scar on my forehead. Perfect.

My papers say I'll have to wear a bandage for about a month afterwards, doctoring it and such. So when my Sister texted me that same night and said I needed to come visit, I figured I'd better go then because I probably wouldn't feel like it for awhile after this surgery thing.

I posted a little about my trip to Florida last week at my Family Travel Blog.

I've also spent some time working up a couple of websites (blogs in disguise) for my parents Rental properties in Steinhatchee, Florida.

Check out my work, and I'm for hire - my specialty is Easy & Cheap - if you or you know anyone wanting a small, inexpensive website.

Staples is giving away more goodies this week. I posted the deal at my Shopping Blog.

Kroger (goes by other names in other parts of the country) is having a good Mega Sale this week. I haven't been very good about buying newspapers for the coupon inserts lately, but using only coupons printed from the internet I was able to stock up on some things we use and save 70%.

You can read about my shopping trip at my Shopping Blog.

Blog Hopping

Still away today, hopefully having a great time. Here's some stuff I saw while blog-hopping this week.

Check out these great Fireman Cupcakes idea found at Mary the Kay the Blog.

Mason jar soap pump at Blissfully Content.

My Mom's maiden name is Mason, so we're pretty big collectors of Mason jars. Not your average everyday Kerr/Ball mason jars (we still use those for canning), but unique jars like the one pictured here.
A couple of years ago I found a Lamb-Mason jar on ebay. My Aunt's married name is Lamb, so I filled the jar with potpurri and bought a canning jar glass oil lamp lid and made it into sort of little oil lamp.

This past September one of my cousins got married, bringing a new Mason into the family.  They used mason jar lanterns for the centerpieces at her shower, it was cute.
Anyway, I was thinking mason jars might be a good theme for gift-giving for her. I've seen these canning jar soap dispensers at a couple of blogs lately and they seemed like a nice, not too difficult project.

M&M Turkey Favors at Pink Ink Doodle. Cute! I'm gonna make these for T'giving at Mom's:

One of the treats I traditionally make for the boys at Christmas is white-chocolate-dipped-Oreos, but I think they would like these Pops with sprinkles version. Or maybe red or green sugar crystals, to customize it for Christmas. They do love sprinkles, though, and probably wouldn't care if they look more Easter than Christmas.

What a great idea! Why can't I think of stuff like this??  Recycled Newspapers Seedling Pots
This is such a great idea - Free, and you can plant the whole thing as is so you don't risk messing up your sprouted seedlings delicate roots pulling it out of a plastic or other pot.

Next Blog >>

Do you ever click it? That Next Blog>> link at the top of the page?

Like everyone, I reckon, I have my usual sites that I visit often, and others I try to visit regular like, but sometimes I just like to randomly blog-hop.

Alot of times that will be to other blogs I see buttoned or linked from blogs that I'm already visiting.
But then every so often I just take a notion to click the Next Blog>> link and see where it takes me.

It's always different places and things. I never know what Keyword it's going to pick up on to direct me to the next stop on the path, or the next one from there, or the next one, and so on.

Let's see what we discover tonight:
(1) Fingerprints on Glass; Looks like a fun blog with a family in Florida.
(2) Port Hudson Organics CSA; Thais and Will Perkins: A Louisiana gardening adventure
(3) Curly Willow Ranch; Life at Curly Willows, Art, Photography, Pacific NW gardening...and a bit of my conservative views.
(Appears the Blogger bar is missing from this blog, so I have to back up and try again from Port Hudson Organics CSA blog.)
(4) Aiken Gardens; Life and Gardening in the South Carolina sandhills (Apparently an abandoned blog - no posts since May 2010)
(5) Unshelved Words; Apparently a writer/poems blog (Alabama). Interesting how I got there from a gardening blog.
(6) Butterfly; Looks like a fun family blog with a mom that takes GORGEOUS photos (Oregon).
(7) Our Typical Life...a mom, 3 girls, & a camera; Another fun family blog with a mom that takes GORGEOUS photos (Utah).
*Is this some sort of conspiracy to rub my nose in the fact that I'm a terrible photo taker and jealous as hell of these people with all their beautiful pictures posted on their blogs???
(8) Just Our Everyday Life; Another family blog, but last posts from Nov 2010 (location unknown).
(9) Wondering Willow; Life, Motherhood and Musings (Australia)
(10) The Carnohan Family; Fun family blog....location possibly California, and just maybe possibly Mom Carnohan (who's due to have a baby in about 2 weeks, btw) might just be a Fire Wife.
*Yep, Dad Carnohan is a FF.

Wow, that was an adventure. Went to lots of different places and seen so many new people.
Several of the blogs recent posts were of their Halloween costumes and trick-or-treating, pumpkin carving and going to the pumpkin farm. Fun!
